A true summertime staple, this Heirloom Tomato Salad celebrates simple ingredients at their peak. Juicy tomatoes, fresh herbs, and a tangy yogurt dressing create a bright, refreshing dish that feels special without any extra effort.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Salad

  • 4 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced into ½-inch wedges

  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cup Persian cucumbers, sliced

  • 1/2 cup pitted black olives, sliced

  • 1/4 cup mixed fresh herbs, torn (basil, cilantro, chives, or favorites)

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided

For the Dressing

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Build the salad:
In a large bowl, gently toss heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and herbs. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt and toss lightly.

  2. Make the dressing:
In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and remaining ½ teaspoon salt until smooth and creamy.

  3. Serve:
Transfer salad to a serving dish and serve the dressing on the side, allowing everyone to add as much as they like.

Best served immediately while the tomatoes are juicy and vibrant.

Notes

Heirloom tomatoes are classic varieties prized for their bold flavor, vibrant colors, and unique shapes. Because they’re delicate and hand-harvested, they’re best enjoyed fresh. Size and shape don’t determine quality — every tomato brings its own character and sweetness to the dish.
