This Air Fryer Okra recipe is one of the easiest ways to prepare okra while keeping it crispy, light, and flavorful. With only a few ingredients, it turns into a perfect healthy snack or quick vegetable side dish. The air fryer helps remove the slimy texture often associated with okra and gives it a golden, crunchy finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh okra

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or olive oil spray

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Okra

Place the fresh okra in the air fryer basket.

2. Season

Lightly spray with olive oil (or drizzle olive oil) and sprinkle kosher salt evenly over the okra.

3. Air Fry

Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, or until the okra becomes golden and crispy.

4. Serve

Serve immediately with vegetable dip or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

Great for Kids
If kids are hesitant to try okra, serving it with a favorite dip can help. Dipping sauces often make vegetables more appealing and fun to eat.

Don’t Overcrowd the Basket
For the crispiest result, place the okra in a single layer. If needed, cook in batches.

Extra Flavor Ideas
You can add extra seasoning such as:

  • Garlic powder

  • Paprika

  • Cajun seasoning

  • Parmesan cheese

Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 3–4 minutes to restore crispiness.
