Golden Glow Juice

I started getting into nutrient packed smoothies over a year ago, and I really enjoy blending different vegetables and fruits together to create unique flavors. A couple of months ago, I invested in a juicer after reading why juices are so good for your body. They not only provide needed hydration, but they allow your body to cleanse itself by absorbing fats and toxins from your gut, and provide many vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and amino acids. After juicing once or twice a day for a couple of months, I started to see the benefits. My skin is glowing and feels and looks younger than it has in years.

After a recent bout of the dreaded flu, I was combing ingredients in my juicer to both increase our immunity as well as to support healthy skin and reduce bloating. I combined carrots, sweet potatoes, golden beets, mango, ginger, turmeric, cucumbers, celery, and an orange for added sweetness. This juice has now become one of my new favorites and I make it often using either golden or red beets. In order to create this tasty juice, you will need a juicer, although you could peel and chop the ingredients and throw them into a blender with some coconut water to create a smoothie.

Why Healthy

  • Sweet potatoes are true superstars. They’re loaded with carotenoids, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.
  • No added fat is used to make this soup creating a low calorie bowl of goodness.
  • Ginger has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It also helps to boost immune function and combat cellular damage. This gut friendly spice stimulates digestion, gut motility and bowel function, while helping to relieve bloating, cramping and nausea. Gingerols are antioxidant compounds in ginger that also have great anti-inflammatory properties.

Curcumin is anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, detoxifying and amazing for digestive health. Turmeric has also been linked to the prevention of cancer cell growth and management of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, asthma, eczema and inflammatory bowel disease. It is a nutritional powerhouse, rich in manganese, zinc, B group vitamins and iron.
  • Lentils are high in fiber that can help to stabilize blood sugar levels and a fantastic source of protein to repair cells after a workout.

  • Cucumbers contain sulfur and silicon, minerals that support kidney and liver function and relieve bloating. They also contain potassium which helps regulate a healthy fluid balance.
