About Deborah

Deborah is a self-taught cook whose passion for Italian cuisine began over 38 years ago when she married into a large Italian family, overflowing with talented cooks. From that early beginning she thoroughly embraced the traditions of keeping an Italian kitchen, and after moving with her family to Milan, Italy where they resided for nearly a decade, she carefully developed and honed her culinary skills. It was during those years in Italy when Deborah changed; although not Italian by birth, she became a true Italian by heart and palate and learned to thoroughly appreciate the Mediterranean diet. Deborah traveled Europe extensively with her family, savoring all of the varied regional cuisines while developing a sincere appreciation for healthy, well-prepared food.

After returning to North America, Deborah wanted to find a medium to share her passion for Italian cuisine as well as the hundreds of Italian recipes she had collected and perfected over the years, which led to the creation of one of the most popular Italian recipe websites on the Internet today, ItalianFoodForever.com. Through the years, Deborah has embraced the healthy Mediterranean approach to food. This includes buying local, fresh, seasonal produce, maintaining a diet based on healthy grains, fruits, and vegetables, subsidized with small amounts of healthy protein, and by substituting healthy fats such as olive oil for saturated fats whenever possible. This coupled with her daughter’s passion for health and nutrition as a dietitian inspired the creation of Recipe Rebuild blog.

Deborah was recently featured in a 6 page spread in Better Homes & Garden Special Edition Italian 2012 magazine that was released early fall 2012.
